Biography:

Christopher Kaufmann was born in Munich in 1986. After graduating from high school, he studied theatre and media studies at the University of Bayreuth. Alongside his studies, he realises his own short film and theatre projects and is a member of the acting ensemble of the Studiobühne Bayreuth for two years. After successfully completing his Bachelor of Arts degree, he worked as a 2nd assistant director and extras supervisor for various television and cinema productions. In addition to his work as a freelancer, he realises his own short films as a director and author, which are shown at various short film festivals. From 2014 to 2016 he is studying for a Master's degree in directing at the Hamburg Media School. The short films he directed there, "Butter Brioche", "The Opposite of Orange" and "Cigarbox Blues", have been shown successfully at numerous national and international festivals. For example, his graduation film "Cigarbox Blues" won the Max Ophüls Prize in 2017. He has been teaching at the Medienakademie Hamburg since 2018 and at the Schule für Schauspiel Hamburg since 2020. Christopher lives and works as a freelance writer and director in Hamburg. Since 2019 he has been preparing his debut feature film "Die Mandelkernregion", for which he has received FFA screenplay funding.
