Juan Peralta
Biography:
Juan Peralta's successful career as a sound re-recording mixer can be traced back to his fascination with Jurassic Park and its incredible range of sound effects. He knew right then that creating sound for films was his calling. After graduating Full Sail’s Recording Arts programme, he relocated to Los Angeles, interning and then signing on as a sound technician at post-production studio EFX. Following that, a recommendation from fellow Hall of Fame inductee Gary Rizzo helped Juan land a job at Skywalker Sound. In fact, his first role at Skywalker was as Gary Rydstrom's assistant—the sound designer and re-recording mixer for Jurassic Park. At Skywalker, Juan has earned credits as a mix-tech on more than 100 film, TV, and video game titles. He made the jump to becoming a recording mixer in 2008 and has mixed on over 30 films, including Avengers: Infinity War, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In 2009, he won the Best Sound Editing Award from the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) for his work on WALL<0xCD><0xBD>E, and his work on Doctor Strange and The Grinch earned a coveted CAS nomination.
