Chapman Kan has a passion for crafting spaces for storytelling.During Chapman's early years, he developed a set of refined skills in design and fabrication. Whilst young, he was fortunate to receive tutelage from Artist Wong Tin-Yan (Junk Wood Sculpture), which helped him form an understanding for materials and practical problem solving. Thanks to certain academic and professional bursaries, he was allowed to learn from some of the most established practitioners in design, such as Liam Young (Tomorrow's Thoughts Today, Princeton University, SCI-Arc) and Terry Ackland-Snow (FDI, Batman, Superman III).He participates in charity projects frequently and has built a Sustainable Housing Unit for Solar Decathlon in Madrid, a Pedestrian Bridge for rural Chinese Village in Yunan, Sustainable Urban Interventions in Japanese Village in Niigata Prefecture, and more recently, worked on awareness-raising films such as the BAFTA-nominated short documentary Consumed (dir. Richard Seymour) and Rate Me (dir. Fyzal Boulifa), which won the Illy Prize at Cannes.Following his passion, Chapman hopes to continue building lasting relationships while contributing to the making of interesting spaces for the film and TV art departments.
